Review: Dove Hair Therapy Dry Shampoo
June 19, 2017After I became a mum back in 2013, I made an important scientific discovery; that being dry shampoo is life.
LIFE, I TELL YOU.
What on earth did I do before it? Washed my hair three times a week like a sucker, that’s what. So when I had the chance to review the new Dove Hair Therapy dry shampoo thanks to BEAUTY / crew, I was well up for it, being the expert long-term user that I am.
I have tended to stick to the one brand in the past as it works for me, is often on special at Priceline* and the XXL Volume version in particular delivers much needed oomph and texture to my fine weave.
The Dove product promises to not only refresh but also care for my hair, which seems pretty aligned to the Dove brand although I am noticing a distinct lack of one-quarter moisturising cream.
I put the product to the test over the course of a week. It applied in the same way as other aerosol-based dry shampoos and had a pleasant fresh fruity scent. It didn't seem as powdery or thick as my usual brand but still performed well at refreshing my hair and soaking up any grease.
Dry shampoo tips
- Lift up your hair and spray in at the roots where the hair is greasiest.
- Let it chill for as long as possible to do its work before you start styling. Some people recommend using it the night before – I have done this and it does work – I just need to remember to do it!
- A bristle brush works best to work through your dry shampoo, breaking up that white powder look
- Speaking of white powder, the colour of OG dry shampoo works well to hide regrowth on blondes. Again, I speak from experience.
- Overwashing oily hair can make it even worse. Why not give your bonce a break and start subbing in dry shampoo instead. Don’t give up after just trying the one brand. Find the one that’s right for you.
Is dry shampoo your saviour too? Any tips to share?
