Sydney Beauty Haul
March 12, 2019As I mentioned on Instagram, every Adelaidian beauty fan knows that a visit to the east coast means two things; Sephora and Mecca Maxima.
(For reals though, I am pretty sure they will open Sephora Bendigo* before we get one in Adelaide, seriously, why the hate?)
My first foray was to the Macquarie Centre stores with my friend Christina who some of you might remember used to blog at Love That Lippie and who I met on my last Sydney visit. We prowled around Sephora, I tried on some Laura Mercier foundation, I was undecided (read: overwhelmed by STUFF) and left empty-handed so we then went to Mecca Maxima where I really liked the Too Faced Born This Way foundation but
Check it out, I did:
Really happy with this product. I had them shade match me again in the different light just to make sure and the result was the same. I got Natural Beige and also signed up to the Mecca Beauty Loop with my very own card, hooray! And because I went to the one in the Myer store, I also got Myer One points. Bonus.
One pump is all that's required for a medium coverage foundation so I get the feeling this will last me ages and I'm pretty happy about that.
Then I thought I might as well bop over to Sephora and remembered I wanted to try the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour concealer, which I did. Again, I asked for help for shade matching and ended up with shade medium. I also resolved to start applying with a brush rather than crayoning onto my under-eyes.
I got a Studded Kiss lipstick in Lolita during that first Sydney visit and really liked it. The formula is long-lasting, they smell delicious and the packaging is bad-ass. Wanted to get Lovecraft this time but the full size was [STILL] sold out. So I beauty-jacked Christina and popped on this Kat von D vs Formula X set comprising 3 mini lipsticks (including Lovecraft) in cult favourite colours and 3 matching nail polishes for $45 which, considering a lipstick is $31 seemed like good value. I just have to motivate myself to paint my nails now!
I even swatched the lippies for you. Left to right: Lovecraft, Bauhau5, Homegirl.
At the cash registers, I was asked if I was a Beauty Pass member and I was, but only online. Now I have another card to call my own AND I was given this cute Sephora blush for my birthday (back in October!!)
Let me just say, y'all on the east coast don't know how lucky you are.
Do you go nuts when you hit shops that aren't available in your state?
* no disrespect to Bendigo, a lovely city.
