Seasonal Greetings
December 24, 2014
Prior to launching this blog, I had never really considered
reading fashion and beauty blogs on the daily.
For some [misguided] reason, I believed them to be solely the domain of
high fashion modelly young things living the life in New York or London, featuring heavily styled outfits, sporting unobtainable luxe items in professionally shot locations
with expert hair and make-up. Nice to look at it but it doesn’t speak to ME. Just
like Vogue may advise to give my wardrobe a refresh with a $400 Prada clutch, I
really need something that’s more along the lines of a Kmart catalogue to suit
my lifestyle/budget.
It was with great surprise and delight that after a simple Google flex, I discovered an assortment of Australian bloggers who keep it real with items from stores I shop in, a
range of body sizes and shapes and photos taken in their own front or back yards
with useful and easy (no sew!) ways to lift an outfit, polish a look or rescue an item from the
donation bag. I’ve already learnt so
much, not just about fashion and beauty but also the art of effective blogging. Also, they’re NICE. They answer comments and ask
questions and like my photos on Instagram!
Speaking of which, running a second Instagram account has also been fun (apart from signing in and out since IG doesn't allow management of multiple accounts). I can post my #OoTD and #FotD pics and #hashtag the living daylights out of them, without judgement from people in my real world. There's also the thrill of brands liking my posts. Okay, I know it's their social media manager and it's probably policy for them to like everything they are tagged in but it's still a buzz. You can follow me there at beth_ghetteauxposh if you feel so inclined.
Back to the blogs that have made my foray into the blogosphere so interesting. Is it sucky-uppy to list a few of my favourites? Whatevs. In no particular order:
I didn’t really have in mind what the focus of my blog would
be so I just wrote about things I liked and bought and used and went from
there. I suppose I’d consider myself a shopping blogger with the occasional
tangent. In the New Year, I look forward to improving on my posts with better
quality photos and putting forward some proper reviews and things. And more shopping, of course.
I’m not sure how much blogging I’ll get to do over the
Christmas / New Year break (although I'm hoping to force someone to take some Christmas outfit shots) so I’ll take the opportunity now to wish everyone
reading a happy and safe holiday and thanks for the comments, replies and likes
so far.
Rock on, 2015!

I love your sunnies! :) Great list of blogs too! I'm like you, I prefer relatable personal blogs rather than the perfectly posed and editorialised just worn for a photo shoot outfits :) All the best for your blog in the new year!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a wonderful Christmas!
